2011 to 2012

And so it begins...

This will be my first New Year's Eve without my better half . So much for sipping on champagne and kissing the one you love at midnight. I'm not gonna lie, I'd rather still be with him. This newly single thing is just not me. I love love love being in a relationship with someone. I'm gonna try my hardest to put on a strong front and try to have a good time and be okay alone at midnight. A New Beginning starts tomorrow. Time to finally let go of all the pain and hurt in my little body and heart and let it all go. Midnight starts the beginning of my new life. Wish me luck on this journey. Be safe tonight. Xo.

Oh December!

I decided to add in a December Post just to add some cheer in my life right now and also cause I didn't want to see that last post as my top post anymore. Let's see if I can do this without crying once.

In a Name ....

It's a dark and gloomy day here in Texas today. Light showers are happening outside my window. I'm crossing my fingers for thunderstorms. I love a good storm plus Texas needs this rain, the more the merrier. I decided to sit down and think of baby names for this little baby that will become part of my life in 2012.

Here are some runner-ups.
  • Milla
  • Josephine
  • Anais
  • Jameson
  • Ivy
  • Amelie
  • Roslyn
  • Harper
  • Lilly Rose
  • Mathilda
  • Olive
Wish Me Luck!

And then there was Thursday.

Worked in the morning but this afternoon was all about play. Woke up the mister and we headed out to eat some Korean BBQ and Sushi at Ilsong Garden. My, Oh My. It was delicious. It was the mister's pick. When he was in the military he spent some time in Korea and he always talks about Korean food but we just hadn't gotten around to it until today. So yummy.

Here's a little pic of our sushi appetizer.

After lunch we ventured out on a little movie date and saw:

How can you go wrong with Paul Rudd? The movie was so heartfelt and funny. We both enjoyed it equally. The cast was amazing. After the movie we decided to get some Starbuck's. I got my first Pumpkin Spiced Latte of the season. I got an iced latte though. We ended up at Madison Square Dog Park sipping our latte's and walking around the park.
Finally I am Home Sweet Home and relaxing with the animals while the mister went on a bike ride. Such a great little afternoon date we had. I wish we could sneak in some more of these days. So happy with a full heart right now.

Sweet September.

Dear September, How I have missed you? I love this month too pieces. I love the change from summer to fall.  I love the little things like smelling the air change from one season to the next and bringing out that box of fall/winter clothes that has been sitting down deep inside your closet. The joy of knowing all the best holidays are right around the corner like Thanksgiving, Christmas and my favorite The New Year. I also am in love with the scents of fall candles and of course pumpkin scents and leaves, golden amber leaves. It is still triple digit heat in Texas these days but I cannot wait for Fall to be here for good. Please Hurry. I am patiently waiting. Desperately wanting.

On a Wednesday

Tired eyes and a tired heart.
Today was just one of those days.
Here is some inspiration for me and you.

On Repeat.

On a Tuesday..

Texas is hot these days. Every day it's triple digit heat. Yesterday was 112 degrees. Right now at 2 p.m. via weather.com it is 100 degrees. My house runs on air conditioner units not central air. It's such a pain but well, what can I do. My little kitchen gets so hot during this time of year so I try not to use the oven too much. I normally make salads, sandwiches, things that don't require oven or stove usage. Here's a little treat for you on what I made for Me and The Mr. today for lunch. Take a peek in my kitchen:

My little dirty stove. This is the culprit for making hot days even hotter.

Sign above my kitchen door. Bought it at Target for $4.00. What a steal!

Straw/Wooden stool I painted olive green to add some color to my kitchen. Me and The Mr. re-did our floors, hence the black and white tile.

Fridge.

Kitchen Window.

Sink.

Cat Picture above sink. Closer look.

Lunch Time:
Salad: Spinach, Croutons, Dried Cranberries, Bacon Bits, Feta Cheese, Cucumbers

Dressing I used. (I applied dressing after.)

I did use the oven for 13 mins to warm up a Tuscan Chicken Pizza. Yummy!
Beverage:
I found this great recipe over at Elsie Larson's blog, A Beautiful Mess
It was under Water Infused Recipes and my favorite was Lemon and Cucumber Water.
So delish and such a refresher to this triple digit heat.
Buon Appetito!
Finito.

Back from the Dead.

Sorry I have been so absent as of late. Life has been a blur of work, friends, home, pets, the breaking of hearts, the bouncing back from heart breaks and the taking time out to figure out just actually who I am and love myself for me. It is now July and I don't think I have given  a proper post or shop update since Mid-May. I have lot's of things in the works for Deer Love including a shop makeover and shop update and I also promise to jump online and blog on a daily basis again. I have one tiny secret that I cannot reveal just yet but in due time I will. It will be a very important part of my blogging process and I cannot wait to share it all with you. Once again, in due time. As for a proper update on myself, I am incredibly happy at the point in my life where I am right now. I am a single still. Still swaying in the wind with a restless heart without my one soul mate to call my own. I have been loved but it is so hard for me to love back. Lately, I have fallen in love with the idea of marriage, family, children and having that one mate you can spend your entire life with, never tiring of that person but falling more in love with them every single day. My old age has turned me into a romantic.. Who knew?

Hello Saturday.
Lots on my mind today.

I'll leave it at that.

Rain, Rain, Please Stay.

What a beautiful rainy thunderstorm madness morning deep in the heart of Texas. I love the sound of rain, the smell of rain, the feel of rain. The absence of rain makes me long for it so much and now it's here, like a long lost lover. I breathe it in and take it in. Sigh. I wish I lived in a city where rain is somewhat common. South Texas is not a fan of you Rain. Now if you were a Sports Team, South Texas would be all over you.

Tell All Thursday

Dear Life,
Sometimes your too tough on me when I've only been good to you.
I wish you would just lay off me for a day or two so I can exhale and enjoy you. I hope this doesn't sound like begging but I promise if you give me one complete day of pure happiness with those I love, I will give you the rest of my life wholeheartedly. Think about it.
Love, Rose

Make Me Up.

I decided to get a little personal here and share with you my favorite Make-Up Must Have's. All items listed are actual items that I do have in my make-up bag and use almost on a daily basis. Enjoy.

1. Too Faced Glamour To Go "Fairy Edition".
For the record, I did not know I was getting anything Fairy Related. I strictly picked this one due to the color palette and how amazing I thought the colors were. All colors have a shimmer feel to it and look so pretty for the less is more approach but also the dark shadows provide that deep smokey eye for the night time. Win/Win Situation

 2. Clinique "Fresh Bloom" Eyeshadow
Yet another shimmer. I'm assuming my secret is out that I love Make-Up that shimmers. This little Clinique Eye Shadow is what I use for an all around glow to my face. I also use it to highlight my nose and cheekbones. Thanks Eye Shadow for doing the job of other things and never being used as an actual eye shadow.

3. Benefit "Cupid's Bow"
This is an amazing little product here. Cupid's Bow is the best lip liner that I have ever tried. It serves as both Bow Maker and Pout Shaper and I can't say how much I love this product.
4. Benefit "Stay Don't Stray"
I used this under all my Make-Up just to keep it in place all day. Another product I am deeply in love with.

5. Laure Mercier Eyeliner in Violette and Eye Shadow in Crushed Amethyst
I am half hispanic so my skin is a little dark so these colors just bring out my skin tone.

6. Too Faced "Last Injection" Mascara
I have long eyelashes as it is and this just takes them to the limit. Must have.

7. Chanel " Lumieres Magiques De Chanel"
Less is More and I mainly use this when I'm out in the streets paying bills or having lunch and I don't want to deal with putting on Make-Up. I just use this as an all over shimmer and I still feel sexy.

8. Stila "Paint Your Pout Red"
Who doesn't love Red Lips?

9. Nivea " A Kiss of Smoothness"
This you can find at the drugstore for about $6.00. It is a hydrating lip care with SPF and I love it.

10. Lastly, I keep an Aveda "Refreshing" Travel Size Facial Bar in my purse.
It definitely comes in handy. If I  made a list on how handy it really is, the list would go on forever.

All is Well

My little life has been so busy as of late that I haven't had a single moment to myself to do a proper update. I promised myself tomorrow to include some "me" time to give a proper update and to also update the Deer Love Etsy Shop. See you tomorrow.

Tune In Tuesday

Stumbled across these 21 tips on the Tiny Buddha website. I have decided to start practicing these tips in search of a "better" me. I love to try different methods and ways to view life, love, and happiness. Let's go.

21 Tips To Love Yourself ( also to release Self-Neglect.)

Read on for steps to discover your worth and enfold yourself in affection and appreciation.
1. Begin your day with love (not technology). Remind yourself of your worthiness before getting out of bed. Breathe in love and breathe out love. Enfold yourself in light. Saturate your being in love.
2. Take time to mediate and journal. Spend time focusing inward daily. Begin with 5 minutes of meditation and 5 minutes of journaling each morning. Gradually increase this time.
3. Talk yourself happy. Use affirmations to train your mind to become more positive. Put a wrist band on your right wrist. When you’re participating in self-abuse of any form, move the band to your left wrist.
4. Get emotionally honest. Let of go of numbing your feelings. Shopping, eating, and drinking are examples of avoiding discomfort, sadness, and pain. Mindfully breathe your way through your feelings and emotions.
5. Expand your interests. Try something new. Learn a language. Go places you’ve never been. Do things you haven’t done before. You have a right to an awesome life.
6. Enjoy life enhancing activities. Find exercise you like. Discover healthy foods that are good for you. Turn off technology for a day and spend time doing things that make you feel alive.
7. Become willing to surrender. Breathe, relax, and let go. You can never see the whole picture. You don’t know what anything is for. Stop fighting against yourself by thinking and desiring people and events in your life should be different. Your plan may be different from your soul’s intentions.
8. Work on personal and spiritual development. Be willing to surrender and grow. Life is a journey. We are here to learn and love on a deeper level. Take penguin steps and life becomes difficult. One step at a time is enough to proceed forward.
9. Own your potential. Love yourself enough to believe in the limitless opportunities available to you. Take action and create a beautiful life for yourself.
10. Be patient with yourself. Let go of urgency and fear. Relax and transform striving into thriving. Trust in yourself, do good work, and the Universe will reward you.
11. Live in appreciation. Train your mind to be grateful. Appreciate your talents, beauty, and brilliance. Love your imperfectly perfect self.
12. Be guided by your intuition. All answers come from within. Look for signs and pay attention to your gut feelings. You’ll hear two inner voices when you need to make a decision. The quiet voice is your higher self; the loud voice is your ego. Always go with the quieter voice.
13. Do what honors and respects you. Don’t participate in activities that bring you down. Don’t allow toxic people in your life. Love everyone, but be discerning on who you allow into your life.
14. Accept uncertainty. Suffering comes from living in the pain of the past or the fear of the future. Put your attention on the present moment and be at peace.
15. Forgive yourself. Learn from your mistakes and go forward. Use this affirmation, “I forgive myself for judging myself for __________ (fill in the blank i.e.: for getting sick, for acting out, for not doing your best.)
16. Discover the power of fun. Self-love requires time to relax, play, and create face-to-face interaction with others. Our fast-paced world creates a goal setting, competitive craziness that doesn’t leave room for play. Dr. Stuart Brow says, “The opposite of play isn’t work, it is depression.”
17. Be real. Speak up and speak out. Allow yourself to be seen, known, and heard. Get comfortable with intimacy (in-to-me-see).
18. Focus on the positive. Go to your heart and dwell on and praise yourself for what you get right in all areas.
19. Become aware of self neglect and rejection. Become conscious of your choices. Ask yourself several times throughout the day, “Does this choice honor me?”
20. Imagine what your life would look like if you believed in your worth. Dedicate your life to loving you. Make it your main event.
21. Seek professional help. Self-rejection and neglect is painful. You deserve to be happy. You have a right to be accepted and loved. If necessary, seek help from a support group, counselor, or coach. It’s the best investment you can make.

Because we are all interconnected, when I love me, I also love you. Together through our love, we can heal ourselves, each other, and the world. Love is our purpose, our true calling. It begins with and within each of us.

Oh So Lovely Sunday!

One Word: Exhausted
What a busy little weekend I had. It's Fiesta Time in my city which means downtown San Antonio literally closes down and there is a big party in the streets for 10 days. So many activities and things to do plus a huge carnival and two beautiful parades. Here are some pictures I took of Fiesta Fun.

Taken at NIOSA: (Night in Old San Antonio)
I decided to wear my little flat shoes from Urban Outfitters cause I knew I would be do a lot of walking. SHOE FAIL! I definitely should have worn shoes that had a little bit more of a heel.  I survived though.

NIOSA is equivalent to Mardi Gras but without the "Show Me Your Boobs" mentality. Lots of beads, Lots of food, Lots of alcohol and lots of walking. The crowd went from good to bad to worse. It got so packed. I actually caught pictures of it going from a little busy to completely and utterly packed. This was my cue to call it a night. I went home completely full off beignets and funnel cakes and into a happy food coma deep sleep.

The next day, Saturday was a crazy busy little day. I had to do my friend's little sister's hair and make-up for Prom. What fun I had. Here is the final product. I got paid very god for it too. Thanks Sudie.

I ran a little late with the hair and make-up so I ended up going to a Fiesta Event dressed for what I wore to church that same morning. No bueno. Where is the fun in that? Here's what I wore.
Here are pics of the last Fiesta Event I attended. It was the Fiesta Flambeau Night Parade and it is America's Largest Night Parade and also America's Largest Illuminated Parade, This is a family event we have done since I was a wee little baby. It was so much to be with my parents and brothers and sister and their families.

Our seats for the Parade:
My little nieces Pia and Bella getting ready for the parade to start.

It started! Yay!

After the parade I ran into Bar America for a quick Lone Star Light before calling it a night and ran into my friend Patrick, who was one of the 19 Pee-Wee Herman Impersonator's at the King William Parade earlier that morning. Of course I had to have a beer with Pee-Wee.

This was my lovely family weekend. <3
