Tune In Tuesday

Stumbled across these 21 tips on the Tiny Buddha website. I have decided to start practicing these tips in search of a "better" me. I love to try different methods and ways to view life, love, and happiness. Let's go.

21 Tips To Love Yourself ( also to release Self-Neglect.)

Read on for steps to discover your worth and enfold yourself in affection and appreciation.
1. Begin your day with love (not technology). Remind yourself of your worthiness before getting out of bed. Breathe in love and breathe out love. Enfold yourself in light. Saturate your being in love.
2. Take time to mediate and journal. Spend time focusing inward daily. Begin with 5 minutes of meditation and 5 minutes of journaling each morning. Gradually increase this time.
3. Talk yourself happy. Use affirmations to train your mind to become more positive. Put a wrist band on your right wrist. When you’re participating in self-abuse of any form, move the band to your left wrist.
4. Get emotionally honest. Let of go of numbing your feelings. Shopping, eating, and drinking are examples of avoiding discomfort, sadness, and pain. Mindfully breathe your way through your feelings and emotions.
5. Expand your interests. Try something new. Learn a language. Go places you’ve never been. Do things you haven’t done before. You have a right to an awesome life.
6. Enjoy life enhancing activities. Find exercise you like. Discover healthy foods that are good for you. Turn off technology for a day and spend time doing things that make you feel alive.
7. Become willing to surrender. Breathe, relax, and let go. You can never see the whole picture. You don’t know what anything is for. Stop fighting against yourself by thinking and desiring people and events in your life should be different. Your plan may be different from your soul’s intentions.
8. Work on personal and spiritual development. Be willing to surrender and grow. Life is a journey. We are here to learn and love on a deeper level. Take penguin steps and life becomes difficult. One step at a time is enough to proceed forward.
9. Own your potential. Love yourself enough to believe in the limitless opportunities available to you. Take action and create a beautiful life for yourself.
10. Be patient with yourself. Let go of urgency and fear. Relax and transform striving into thriving. Trust in yourself, do good work, and the Universe will reward you.
11. Live in appreciation. Train your mind to be grateful. Appreciate your talents, beauty, and brilliance. Love your imperfectly perfect self.
12. Be guided by your intuition. All answers come from within. Look for signs and pay attention to your gut feelings. You’ll hear two inner voices when you need to make a decision. The quiet voice is your higher self; the loud voice is your ego. Always go with the quieter voice.
13. Do what honors and respects you. Don’t participate in activities that bring you down. Don’t allow toxic people in your life. Love everyone, but be discerning on who you allow into your life.
14. Accept uncertainty. Suffering comes from living in the pain of the past or the fear of the future. Put your attention on the present moment and be at peace.
15. Forgive yourself. Learn from your mistakes and go forward. Use this affirmation, “I forgive myself for judging myself for __________ (fill in the blank i.e.: for getting sick, for acting out, for not doing your best.)
16. Discover the power of fun. Self-love requires time to relax, play, and create face-to-face interaction with others. Our fast-paced world creates a goal setting, competitive craziness that doesn’t leave room for play. Dr. Stuart Brow says, “The opposite of play isn’t work, it is depression.”
17. Be real. Speak up and speak out. Allow yourself to be seen, known, and heard. Get comfortable with intimacy (in-to-me-see).
18. Focus on the positive. Go to your heart and dwell on and praise yourself for what you get right in all areas.
19. Become aware of self neglect and rejection. Become conscious of your choices. Ask yourself several times throughout the day, “Does this choice honor me?”
20. Imagine what your life would look like if you believed in your worth. Dedicate your life to loving you. Make it your main event.
21. Seek professional help. Self-rejection and neglect is painful. You deserve to be happy. You have a right to be accepted and loved. If necessary, seek help from a support group, counselor, or coach. It’s the best investment you can make.

Because we are all interconnected, when I love me, I also love you. Together through our love, we can heal ourselves, each other, and the world. Love is our purpose, our true calling. It begins with and within each of us.

Oh So Lovely Sunday!

One Word: Exhausted
What a busy little weekend I had. It's Fiesta Time in my city which means downtown San Antonio literally closes down and there is a big party in the streets for 10 days. So many activities and things to do plus a huge carnival and two beautiful parades. Here are some pictures I took of Fiesta Fun.

Taken at NIOSA: (Night in Old San Antonio)
I decided to wear my little flat shoes from Urban Outfitters cause I knew I would be do a lot of walking. SHOE FAIL! I definitely should have worn shoes that had a little bit more of a heel.  I survived though.

NIOSA is equivalent to Mardi Gras but without the "Show Me Your Boobs" mentality. Lots of beads, Lots of food, Lots of alcohol and lots of walking. The crowd went from good to bad to worse. It got so packed. I actually caught pictures of it going from a little busy to completely and utterly packed. This was my cue to call it a night. I went home completely full off beignets and funnel cakes and into a happy food coma deep sleep.

The next day, Saturday was a crazy busy little day. I had to do my friend's little sister's hair and make-up for Prom. What fun I had. Here is the final product. I got paid very god for it too. Thanks Sudie.

I ran a little late with the hair and make-up so I ended up going to a Fiesta Event dressed for what I wore to church that same morning. No bueno. Where is the fun in that? Here's what I wore.
Here are pics of the last Fiesta Event I attended. It was the Fiesta Flambeau Night Parade and it is America's Largest Night Parade and also America's Largest Illuminated Parade, This is a family event we have done since I was a wee little baby. It was so much to be with my parents and brothers and sister and their families.

Our seats for the Parade:
My little nieces Pia and Bella getting ready for the parade to start.

It started! Yay!

After the parade I ran into Bar America for a quick Lone Star Light before calling it a night and ran into my friend Patrick, who was one of the 19 Pee-Wee Herman Impersonator's at the King William Parade earlier that morning. Of course I had to have a beer with Pee-Wee.

This was my lovely family weekend. <3

Late Night Post

The oddest thing just happened to me. I went to the kitchen to grab something to drink and when I opened the fridge door, in between the Almond Milk and the POM Tea was my cat Korto fast asleep in pure bliss. She is such a sneaky little cat.
She is perfectly fine and was only trapped in there for less than 15 minutes. What a silly little cat! Her sister Kenley is the good cat, Korto is something else.

Here is a pic of my footsies on my kitchen floor.
And here is the delicious dinner I made myself. Well, Not really. I have so much food in my fridge right now but all I really wanted was a bowl of cereal. Mmmm. Frosted Mini-Wheats Bite Size Blueberry Muffin Flavor and I added in some Sliced Bananas with Original Almond Milk.
I'm logging off. Til tomorrow lovelies.

It's a gloomy humid day in South Texas. Sigh. I'm daydreaming out the window. I caught a very bad cold this weekend so I've been out of commission the past few days.I actually spent 3 whole days off the computer, it was quite relaxing. I have to admit I'm so very happy to not be sick anymore. It sucked not having 2 working nostrils. So joyous that I can finally breathe again. Yay. Here is a little picture of me this past weekend.

My very dear friend Joey. He was my partner in crime this past weekend.

Freedom Friday

A wave of emotions has overcome me. Sometimes it's good to get upset. Especially when your at home alone and can vent it out on your own. Nothing significant happened recently. I've just been keeping some bottled up emotions inside and thus today they decided to take a dive out of my heart and land smack on my living room floor. Tiny little ghosts of emotions taunting me with negative energy. I had to finally confront them and let them go. The heart and mind can only hold so much negative energy until it starts taking a toll. I'm happy to say I feel a lot better unleashing my emotions.Sometimes you just have to count on yourself, to tell yourself positive reaffirming things. Be kind to yourself. Be good to yourself. Listen to your body.  I just did. Most amazing feeling on the planet is to be able to take a good look at yourself and be truthful with yourself and tell yourself, Your Amazing because you are. <3

Tune In Tuesday

What a cold little morning in South Texas. Brrrr. I actually have on a sweater and all my windows closed. I do not like this one bit, one bit I tell ya. Today I plan on spending the late afternoon/evening with my parents. I don't see them as much as I would like but today will be splendid. My hands are so cold while I type this. I'm dedicating today's blog to: Current Women In Music That I Love. Let's start!

Cat Power
Oh so amazing. This lovely woman's voice pierces thru my heart and I feel so much emotion when I listen to her music. "Once I wanted to be the greatest..."

Karen O.
Swoon. From Yeah Yeah Yeah's to Karen O. and The Kids. This lady had me at hello. Karen O. and The Kids is such a great album to soak up the sun to and feel like a kid again. I want to run around and scream, Let the wild rumpus begin!

Lykke Li:
Best listened to when your deeply in love with someone or deeply heartbroken about someone. Her little voice is so cute and angelic and she makes want to sing like her. I love Lykke Li. "I think I'm a little bit in love with you."

Little Boots:
Little Boots makes me want to sip wine and dance the night away with the ladies. It's also perfect music to get dressed to for a night out on the town. I'm such a huge fan. "cause dancing is my remedy, remedy."

Bat for Lashes:
I normally go for her music when I'm feeling sad or heartbroken or not good enough. When I'm weighing major obstacles in my life. She puts me in a very numb place like a tranquil zen state. Another woman who has stolen my heart. "i found a home in your eyes and we'd never be apart."

Soko:
This lovely little lady has the most cutest little oddest accented voice but it works. If you have ever been cheated on or left for someone else. Her song I'll Kill Her is a great anthem. "She stole my future, She broke my dreams."
Enjoy!

Sweet Sweet Saturday

What a wonderful little happy Saturday in the Deer Love House. So refreshed and so caught up on everything. Last night I had the pleasure of spending time with my good friend Sudie and her handsome 10 year old son Jeylan. We all voted on Burger Boy for dinner. Oh My God, The burgers are AMAZING.

As you can tell I have been cheating on my vegetarian diet that I recently started. I'm such a sucker for a good hamburger though. Sigh! My friend Sudie and I spent the rest of our evening watching awful reality t.v. shows and talking about the past and being young and it was so much fun. We even did an Ice Cream at 10:00 p.m. I love nights like that. Have I told you how much  I really love the friends that surround me? I am extremely grateful for them, words cannot express it. <3
